    Community Resources

      General Assistance or General Relief Program 

      General Assistance or General Relief Program is designed to provide cash assistance and employment services to Santa Clara County adults with no dependent children who have no other means of support.

      CalWIN

      MyBenefits CalWIN helps with medical, food, and cash assistance. 

      Emergency Assistance Network 

      The Santa Clara County Emergency Assistance Network provides various critical resources for eligible low-income households to prevent homelessness and hunger. All agencies on the flyer can assist Santa Clara residents, they are no longer limited by zip code.

      Sacred Heart Community Service 

      Sacred Heart Community Service has funding for low-income, Santa Clara County residents who need emergency financial assistance. Aids Santa Clara County residents with past-due rent, emergency security deposits, mortgages, and more.

      Homelessness Prevention System  

      The Homelessness Prevention System aids low-income families or individuals who are at risk of losing their housing. Services include: temporary financial assistance, legal support, case management, and other services.

      Office of Supportive Housing Coordinated Entry System 

      If you are homeless, visit any of these Santa Clara County access points to complete the VI-SPDAT assessment, which is the first step to securing housing. 

      Eviction Help Center 

      The Eviction Help Center provides assistance to tenants and landlords with the application process for rental assistance from the State of California as well as the Santa Clara County Homelessness Prevention System. 

      Meals on Wheels 

      To apply for Meals on Wheels, you must be a resident of Santa Clara County who is homebound and has difficulty getting your own meals due to a medical condition or isolation. 

      Second Harvest Food Bank 

      Second Harvest Food Bank offers a number of free food resources including a Free Food Locator, CalFresh assistance, and nutrition education

      CalFresh 

      CalFresh is California’s food stamps program that provides qualified applicants with an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card.

      Senior Nutrition Program 

      The County of Santa Clara’s Senior Nutrition Program partners with cities and community-based organizations to provide meals and resources. Services are available in settings such as community centers and senior housing communities. 

      Sacred Heart Community Services 

      Sacred Heart Community Services offers three-day supply of groceries and prepared food for people who are unhoused. 

      SCC Resource and Referral Program 

      SCC Resource and Referral Program helps families access childcare that meets their specific needs. Search the Childcare Portal or submit a request to be contacted by a childcare provider.

      First 5 Family Resource Centers 

      Family Resource Centers can provide families with: 

      • Nutrition, health, and wellness programs 

      • Developmental screenings for children ages 0-5 

      • Health insurance application assistance 

      • Professional development resources and opportunities 

      • Parent and caregiver workshops 

      Patient Access Department 

      Patient Access Department helps residents of Santa Clara County get free or reduced-cost healthcare services and/or medicines based on their incomes.

      Medi-Cal 

      Medi-Cal is California's version of the federal Medicaid health coverage program. This program is for California residents with low income and resources. 

      Medi-Nurse 

      Medi-Nurse is a free nurse advice line you can call if you are uninsured or have Medi-Cal but no regular doctor. Callers can speak directly to a health professional about symptoms, get advice about treatment in your area, and learn about how to apply for health insurance. 

      Community Health Partnership 

      Community Health Partnership health centers and clinics offer accessible, affordable, and culturally competent health care services for low-income and medically underserved populations. 

      Better Health Pharmacy 

      Better Health Pharmacy receives unused, unopened, and unexpired medications from licensed healthcare facilities, and dispenses the drugs for free to patients who have a valid prescription. Inventory changes constantly so call ahead to see if they have the medication you need.

      Sourcewise Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program 

      Sourcewise provides access to one-on-one counseling for Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and their caregivers to understand Medicare benefits and healthcare options.

      The Bill Wilson Here4You Call Center 

      The Bill Wilson Here4You Call Center provides referrals to temporary housing programs for people needing shelter. The hotline can help match people to emergency shelters, help sustain current housing, or make referrals and linkages to other community resources. 

      Mental Health Services Call Center 

      Mental Health Services Call Center is a 24/7 telephone service connecting callers to referrals to address all behavioral health needs. This may include a referral to a county mental health or substance use treatment program, or a community-based organization.  

      Suicide and Crisis Hotline 

      Suicide and Crisis Hotline is a toll-free, confidential suicide prevention hotline.

      Uplift Family Services' Mobile Crisis Team  

      Uplift Family Services' Mobile Crisis Team provides 24-hour intervention for children and teens in the community who are in acute psychological crisis.  

      Behavioral Health Urgent Care 

      Behavioral Health Urgent Care is a walk-in outpatient clinic for Santa Clara County residents who are experiencing behavioral health crisis and need help. Provides screening, assessment, crisis intervention, referral and short-term treatment for adolescents and adults.

      Immigration Legal Services of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County 

      Immigration and Legal Services provides a broad range of immigration counseling and representation to immigrants and their families. 

      County of Santa Clara Office of Labor Standards Enforcement 

      The Office of Labor Standards Enforcement can provide information on benefits for workers impacted by COVID-19. Contact the Office to see if you qualify for a program that can cover a portion of your lost wages due to COVID-19.

      Law Foundation of Silicon Valley 

      The Law Foundation’s Housing Program provides free legal advice and representation on housing-related matters to low-income families and individuals in Santa Clara County.
